Dr. Scott Gelman, joined Peninsula Orthopaedic Associates on September 1, 2021, is the perfect addition to expand our Joint Replacement service line. Formerly practicing in Frederick, Maryland, Dr. Gelman will complement our successful arthroplasty program with a special interest in rapid recovery and advanced pain control, anterior hip replacement and total knee replacement as well as complex revisions of failed hip and knee replacements. He also has an interest in fracture care and will be assisting with our orthopaedic trauma coverage at TidalHealth Peninsula Regional. Dr. Gelman believes in an individualized, patient centered approach that focuses on returning each patient to their maximum function.
Dr. Gelman completed his Bachelor's of Arts Degree in Biology at McDaniel College in Westminster, MD and his Medical Doctorate Degree the Geisinger Commonwealth College of Medicine, in Scranton, PA. Dr. Gelman selected Summa Health in Akron, OH to complete a residency in Orthopaedic Surgery. Also, during his time in Ohio, Dr. Gelman was a clinical instructor at Northeast Ohio Medical University.
Dr. Gelman has contributed to several publications including those featured in the Journal of Orthopaedic Trauma as well as presented in various forums on a wide range of topics from the effect of a high HbA1c level on postoperative total shoulder arthroplasty infections to performing unicompartmental knee arthroplasty in an ambulatory surgery center.
