(Salisbury, MD) Dr. Scott Gelman, joining Peninsula Orthopaedic Associates (POA) on September 1, 2021, is the perfect addition to expand POA’s Joint Replacement service line. Dr. Scott Gelman will work alongside our team of premier orthopaedic surgeons including Dr. Petrera, Dr. Trauger, Dr. Adrignolo, and Dr. Falvello. This team of experts are providing the most advanced and comprehensive treatment for hip and knee replacements in the region. POA is excited to expand upon its tradition of excellence with increased accessibility to quality orthopaedic providers on the Delmarva Peninsula.

Formerly practicing in Frederick, Maryland, Dr. Gelman will complement our successful arthroplasty program with a special interest in rapid recovery and advanced pain control, anterior hip replacement and total knee replacement as well as complex revisions of failed hip and knee replacements. He also has an interest in fracture care and will be assisting with our orthopaedic trauma coverage at TidalHealth Peninsula Regional. Dr. Gelman believes in an individualized, patient centered approach that focuses on returning each patient to their maximum function.

Dr. Gelman completed his Bachelor of Arts Degree in Biology at McDaniel College in Westminster, Maryland and his Medical Doctorate Degree the Geisinger Commonwealth College of Medicine, in Scranton, Pennsylvania. Dr. Gelman selected Summa Health in Akron, Ohio to complete a residency in Orthopaedic Surgery.

Although Dr. Gelman’s wife Emily Gelman (Funk) was raised on the Eastern Shore, this is the first time Dr. Gelman is putting down roots on the Eastern Shore. He is excited to relocate his family from the Frederick area here to Salisbury, where they’ll be closer to his wife’s family.
