Frank E. Poole, MD (1918-1993) Frank E. Poole, MD, founder of Peninsula Orthopaedic Associates in 1952, was the first orthopaedic surgeon on the Eastern Shore. He received his medical degree from Duke University in 1951. During his tenure as president of Peninsula Orthopaedic Associates, Dr. Poole saw his practice grow from a one-man operation to a practice with five physicians at the time of his retirement in 1979.
