Eric H. Franks, MD
Shoulder and Knee

Fellowship trained in shoulder and knee conditions and board certified in orthopaedic surgery, Dr. Franks has been a part of Peninsula Orthopaedic Associates since 1998. He conducts hundreds of arthroscopic procedures each year, and has been appointed Master Instructor for the Arthroscopic Association of North America, where he teaches other surgeons advanced techniques in arthroscopy.

Dr. Franks believes in educating his patients, too. Over the years, he has customized his own collateral material comprised of a series of notebooks and drawings of the shoulder and knee that guide patients step by step as they participate in their own care.

Dr. Franks graduated from the George Washington University School of Medicine in Washington, D.C. He completed his internship in general surgery at the Walter Reed Army Medical Center, and his residency in orthopaedic surgery at the Johns Hopkins Hospital. During his service as an orthopaedic surgeon and officer in the Army, he earned several medals and awards, including the Army Humanitarian Medal.
