Physical Therapy
Helping you recover

Aging, injury, disease or post-operative conditions can limit your ability to move and perform normal activities. Physical therapy is often an essential component of recovery for patients suffering a wide variety of health-related conditions. Depending upon your specific needs, physical therapy could be prescribed to increase range of motion, reduce pain, restore function, prevent disability or satisfy a combination of these goals.

Your orthopaedic surgeon's clinical evaluation will dictate the type of individualized physical therapy plan most likely to improve your condition. Therapy may be used in conjunction with or in place of surgery. Depending upon your condition, therapy may even postpone or eliminate the need for surgery. In either case, you will play a major role in your recovery.

Common forms of physical therapy include:

  • Therapeutic exercise
  • Neuromuscular re-education
  • Manual therapy such as mobilization, manipulation and stretching
  • Physical and mechanical means such as ultrasound, electrical stimulation and traction
  • Functional training in self-care and home management

POA works with many physical therapists in the community. Our office will work closely with you and your insurance carrier to help connect you with therapist(s) who offer the expertise and credentials necessary for your condition. Your surgeon will discuss your particular needs with you in detail and answer any questions you may have.
