Physical Therapy Aging, injury, disease or post-operative conditions can limit your ability to move and perform normal activities. Physical therapy is often an essential component of recovery for patients suffering a wide variety of health-related conditions. Depending upon your specific needs, physical therapy could be prescribed to increase range of motion, reduce pain, restore function, prevent disability or satisfy a combination of these goals. Your orthopaedic surgeon's clinical evaluation will dictate the type of individualized physical therapy plan most likely to improve your condition. Therapy may be used in conjunction with or in place of surgery. Depending upon your condition, therapy may even postpone or eliminate the need for surgery.
